Introduction to Getting Clean
Addiction
Addiction
is the term used to describe someone who is physically dependent on opiates.
Physical dependence forms when the nerves in your brain and body adapt
after being exposed to opiates.
The more that you take of the drug, the more your body requires it,
resulting in tolerance.
When you stop taking the drug, you will suffer from withdrawal symptoms.
This is because the body is so used to having the drug and cannot cope without
it. Getting
clean is the end goal. Before that you will need to take a few steps towards
this. Firstly
you should look at your addiction and make a note of what drugs you use and why
you use them. Next you will need to look at making a treatment plan. What type of detox do you want and how can you get it? Look at what triggers you to keep using drugs, especially focusing on what usually causes a detox to fail. Once you have done this you are ready to try for the detox.
